I recently read The Antidote: Happiness for People Who Can’t Stand Positive Thinking by Oliver Burkeman. This was an interesting and inspiring read on many levels.
The one thing that I felt was an immediate takeaway for me boils down to the following advice:
Imagine that you are eighty years old and looking back on your life.
What are you wishing you’d spent more time doing?
What are you wishing you’d spent less time doing?
And then start making changes to how you live your life today so that you won’t need to wish those things when you’re eighty!
Using this as a regular review will allow you to make small changes to your life so that you can gradually bring it closer to the way you want it to be.
The cumulative impact of all those small changes could result in a major improvement in your life and how you look back on it in the future!
